Mission Christmas heads to Princes Quay

05/11/2019

Princes Quay shopping centre has been revealed as the home of this year’s Viking FM’s Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Campaign. The team will be headquartered in a prominent unit, giving shoppers even more opportunity to drop off donations and gifts.

The unit will be located on the ground floor and will be open for the public to bring gifts and donations from 10am to 5pm on Monday to Friday, with some weekend opening times to be confirmed.

This fantastic campaign aims to get a Christmas gift to a child in poverty at risk of waking up to nothing on Christmas Day. Over the years the initiative has been incredibly successful with many local residents and businesses across the region making generous donations.

Viking FM is urging its listeners to donate gifts of all types suitable for ages 0-18 years. It can be anything from toys for children right through to gifts more suitable for teenagers like beauty and grooming sets.

Kathryn Biggin, Viking FM’s Charity Manager, said: “We are so excited to be running Mission Christmas from Princes Quay this year. Mission Christmas is our largest campaign where we aim to get a gift to a local child in poverty at risk of waking up to nothing on Christmas Day.

"Last year we helped over 19,500 local children across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire experience the magic of Christmas and we can only do that if the local community and business network are aware of what we do and get involved.

"Princes Quay has given us the most amazing platform by allowing us to run the campaign in a public facing unit, as well as giving us every opportunity to fundraise. We are so grateful to Sarah and the team at Princes Quay, as well as all the retailers for their wonderful support. We look forward to launching this year and cannot wait to start making a difference to local children this Christmas.”

Cash for Kids is Viking FM’s charity, supporting sick, disabled and disadvantaged children across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire. Cash for Kids believes every child should be able to live life to the full and realise their own individual potential.

Sarah Smith, Princes Quay Marketing Manager, said: “We have been involved with Mission Christmas over the years as a drop off location within the City and this year we are delighted to provide a dedicated unit to the Cash for Kids team to run their campaign. We know what a difference Mission Christmas makes and, at a time when a lot of us are worried about finishing the Christmas shopping, those less fortunate simply don’t have the money to start.

"We’d urge Princes Quay shoppers and businesses within the centre to try to make a donation, no matter how big or small – every little helps.”
