Quayvaria Santa's grotto opens in Princes Quay

22/11/2019

Drunk Animal Creative Studio has stepped in to create Christmas 2019 through imaginative surroundings and experiences created for Princes Quay shopping centre.

The agency has created a truly unique grotto in Quayvaria, an enchanted forest installation located within Princes Quay. This is more than just a Christmas grotto, it’s an experience that’s designed to thrill and excite children and adults alike. The surroundings invite visitors to experience a captivating winter wonderland complete with more than a dozen intricate, hand-built elf houses, a number of fairy homes and snow-covered trees.

Drunk Animal managed and delivered all aspects of the grotto design and installation, which took almost two months to put into place.

Drunk Animal is a creative marketing agency that specialises in eye-catching events, interactive installations and immersive experiences. Having recently created Tilly the Turtle for the University of Hull, the hugely popular Zany Races racetrack in Princes Quay and giant colourful letters for Pride in Hull, the team has fully embraced the festive season.

As well as creating the grotto experience, they recently delivered a number of elements for the Princes Quay Santa’s Arrival Parade, including Santa’s own parade float featuring enchanted snow-covered trees and the conversion of advertising bikes into huge penguins.

The parade took place on Sunday 17th November, making its way from Hull New Theatre to Princes Quay. Joined by All For One Choir and dozens of local schoolchildren, it was an event enjoyed by families from across the region, who came together to wave to Santa and his elves, greet their arrival at the shopping centre to switch on the Christmas lights and officially open Quayvaria.

Calvin Innes, CEO of Drunk Animal, says: “As an agency we always look to push ourselves with installations like this, designing and building everything from scratch in our creative space. Our clients expect something different from us as we just don’t do ‘off the shelf’. When we create a grotto, for example, everything is hand built, it’s filled with intricate details and things to look at. We actually hand glued thousands of individual leaves to the trees to create the right look. It’s going the extra mile that makes our work stand out.

“Christmas is a special time of the year and we want to make sure that families and children have amazing experiences when they visit one of our grottos.

“Our team is helping to make Christmas 2019 the most magical ever!”
