Festive season gets underway with lights switch-on - 17 November

Hull’s stunning Christmas lights will be switched on by Hull’s own Connor Lynes, star of the England Physical Disability Rugby League team who recently stormed to victory over New Zealand in the World Cup, alongside the Deputy Lord Mayor next week.

Queen Victoria Square will come alive with stunning light and sound installations on Thursday 17 November, with thousands expected to be there.

Entertainment will get under way at 5pm, with DJ Darren Lethem taking the reins as host on Hull City Hall balcony to introduce a host of live performances to entertain the crowds.

Talent from the city will include performers Fascination, Dan Furniss, Gary Marsden, Serena Williams, Venus and Lillie Kirman.

Connor and the Deputy Lord Mayor will be joined by a very special guest straight out of the North Pole, in switching on the lights at 6.45pm.

The light switch-on will include a firework display (weather dependent) over Queen Victoria Square.

Deputy Lord Mayor, Cllr Kalvin Neal said: “The Christmas lights switch-on always draws a great crowd of people, ready to get the festive season started with a bang.

“I’m delighted to be joined by some very special guests to take part in the countdown and press the button with me and can’t wait to see Queen Victoria Square lit up looking its very best.”
